Summer Projects for Kids
School’s out for Summer! Have you thought about how your kid (or kids) will be keeping busy and entertained over their summer vacation? Aside from the obvious go-to sleep-away summer camp solution, there are a lot of other activities and projects out there for kids to work on during vacation time. Below are a few great ideas that we found online:
Geocaching
Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. This is probably an activity that you will need to assist with but definitely an activity everyone will enjoy!
Educational Project
This doesn’t have to be anything too involved and can certainly be something that your kids will enjoy doing. Some ideas are: growing something (herbs, flowers, vegetables), baking/cooking something, building something, or locating constellations in the night sky.
Start-Up Lemonade Stand
This is a great way to keep kids busy during the summer and also let them have fun while making some extra spending money. They can also offer iced teas or fruit-infused water to mix it up a little!
Nature Walk (or bike-ride)
With all of the great nature trails that we have in the Houston area, you won’t have any trouble finding one that your kids will love. You can even help them create field guides and make a game out of finding certain plants, insects, or animals!
Crafts
This can be anything from making jewelry to fashioning a wind-chime out of sea shells. The ideas are endless and so is the fun!
