Amazing Spaces Recognized as Partner in New Houston Recycling Program
Important CompuCycle Update
CompuCycle has regretfully removed Amazing Spaces as a drop off location under their services. From August 2017 moving forward, all Amazing Spaces properties will be unable to access electronic recycling items. As of December 2016, Amazing Spaces’ five Houston locations collected a combined total of 404,679 lbs. of electronic waste keeping extremely harmful materials out of our landfills and streams. CompuCycle will accept your electronic waste at their own drop-off locations moving forward. Find a CompuCycle location near you. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
Local self storage facilities partner with the City of Houston and GREENspot DROPoff to accept residents’ electronic waste free of charge to be responsibly recycled thereby keeping dangerous materials out of landfills and streams.
We are happy to announce that Amazing Spaces is a proud partner in the DROPoff Houston electronics recycling program. Yesterday morning Houston Mayor, Annise Parker, announced the official partnership between the City of Houston, CompuCycle, GREENspot DROPoff, and 30 self storage facilities throughout Houston that will work together to provide a more comprehensive electronics waste program for Houston residents.
We have worked with GREENspot DROPoff, a free e-waste recycling program, since June 2012. To date, Amazing Spaces’ four Houston locations have collected a combined total of 92,439lbs of electronic waste keeping harmful materials out of our landfills and streams. We are excited to see growth in the program and to receive support and endorsement from the City of Houston.
The communities we serve can breathe a sigh of relief when searching for how to get rid of old electronics responsibly. All Amazing Spaces locations accept old electronics that will then be picked up by CompuCycle, a certified e-waste recycler, to be recycled safely rather than go into a landfill potentially releasing toxic chemicals into the environment. Over the past year, since we started the program, we’ve heard overwhelmingly positive feedback from the people who have already taken advantage of our e-waste dropoff option. We are happy that our partnership with GREENspot DROPoff provides the community this much needed service.
CompuCycle is R2 certified meaning that they follow strict compliances including ensuring secure data destruction, managing materials that pose a threat to the environment and worker safety, and practicing the remarketing and reuse of retired electronics. Here are some examples items that are recycled with the GREENspot Program: Televisions | Fax Machines | Computer Monitors | DVD Players | Laptops | VCR / Beta | Keyboards | Cables & Cords Printers | Radios | Computer Mice | Stereo Components | Hard Drives | Tape & Zip Drives
